DT-Please describe your shop and the type of customer you service
Chain Reaction Bicycles
We have a very diverse clientele. We deal with a lot of college students as we are directly across the street from the University of Florida campus. We sell a lot of commuter bikes, as well as race ready road bikes, and a lot of all levels of mountain bikes. We feel we are more in touch with the average rider because everyone in the shop commutes daily and trains for some sort of bike event.
DT-What DT Swiss products do you offer?
Chain Reaction Bicycles-
We are exclusive to DT Swiss spokes on all of our custom builds and for general repairs. We also stock a large number of different models of DT Swiss Rims, as well as a few offerings of DT Swiss hubs, skewers and shocks. Lately, we have been selling complete wheelsets, both road and mountain.
DT-Which products are your favorite and why?
Chain Reaction Bicycles -I am a huge fan of the DT Swiss rims and spokes. The rims are the roundest, truest I have every worked with out of the box. The DT Swiss spokes are always the proper length and when tensioned properly fail far less than any other spoke I have used.
DT-Do you offer wheel building?
Chain Reaction Bicycles-We do offer custom wheel builds. Custom wheels give me the flexibility to tune a clients wheels to their needs. I can build a springy, lively wheel for a racer, and a solid heavy duty wheel for a loaded tourer.
Dt-What DT Swiss products do you build with and why?
Chain Reaction Bicycles-We use many of the DT Swiss spokes including, but not limited to, Champion, Competition, Super Comps. We also use a large number of 4.x series mountain rims and RR 1.x road rims. I like these products because they are extremely uniform. You always know what you are going to get with DT Swiss.
DT-How do you showcase DT Swiss products in your store?
Chain Reaction Bicycles-We ride a lot of the products we sell which makes the process a whole lot easier. We have display case for a few of the small parts and we try to keep a wheelset or two built and hanging on the wall.
DT - What DT Swiss products are you riding? Describe your set-up.
Chain Reaction Bicycles - I just received a set of the XRC 1250 mtb wheels. I have the Carbon shock and I am waiting for the new XRC 80mm fork. All of this is on my 2007 Giant Anthem Advanced. The expected weight with the new fork should be just over 22.75lbs for a size 20” frame 3.5inch travel bike. I also have a set of RR1.2 laced up to Phil Wood hubs on my Specialized Langster S-Works, this makes for a very stiff lively ride. I also have a few other wheelsets that utilize DT Swiss spokes and various rims and hubs.
DT - Where are the "must ride" trails in your area?
Chain Reaction Bicycles-There are two must see trail rides within 25-45 minutes of our shop. The first is San Felasco State Park, there are over 30 miles of very scenic flowing trails here. The second is Santos State Park, this trail system has a skills park and an IMBA epic course, there are over 60 miles of trail at this system.
